hey pumpkin!...TSTR #138

Hey there Tea Room Fans!

Rebecca has set another wonderful, new challenge for us over at The Shabby Tea Room this week using this CUTE photo! She asks that we use:

                                            * COLOURS FROM THE PHOTO
                                            * A FLOWER

This week Debbie's Paper Sweeties is our sponsor this week and you could win 2 stamps sets! Ready to play? I used the Sweeties Sentiments stamp "So Sweet of You" I adore the font with the handwriting.

I loved the orange in the photo and the green of the grass.. and I've had this running theme of birds lately and have continued it here...

Love layering flowers together.. along with seam binding bows...

I'm off to peek at the rest of the DT. Hope you will too!

winter woes...

Dear Old Man Winter,

Your arrival this year was abrupt and too early. Rudely knocking all the leaves off the trees with your windy weather.  I could appreciate your light snow showers, if it weren't for the fact you stole my fall away from me.. Your cold temps have me shivering; wrapping up in more layers than usual. Unprepared for such a drastic change of weather, seemingly overnight.

I'm glad you brought with you Aurora: the bitter cold makes her brilliant greens seem even more bright as she dances in the night sky. It's more than likely due to the dark nights you bring with you this time of year. Her presence is the only positive aspect to your early arrival. I look forward to seeing her often, during what should be a transition period of fall to winter. You, not so much.

I'm escaping your cold grasp this week, fleeing to find Fall on the west coast. I know when I return you will be in full effect, in all your glory; here to stay until the spring. Perhaps by then I will be a little more prepared...

Until then Mr Winter, please take pity on us and treat us kindly, easing us into the season gradually..

Grumpily yours,
~Becks

vintage charm...TSTR #137

Hello friends, and welcome to another new challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room. This week Tracey is our host and she asks that we create a card or project using:

                                              * COLOURS FROM THE PHOTO
                                              * A CHARM
                                              *FLOWERS

I used Banner Wishes from our fabby shabby sponsor this week, Paper Sweeties. Play along with us and you could win 2 stamp sets! How fab!

I was drawn to the lovely cameo in the photo so I used that as my 'charm'. Debbie's stamps are just darling to work with and I knew exactly how I wanted to use them this week. Banner wishes has so many cute phrases to mix and match to create the perfect sentiment.

Won't you join me as I pop by the rest of the shabby team to see what they've created

rustic elegance...TSTR #136

When I saw Rebecca's challenge for us at The Shabby Tea Room I couldn't wait to get crafty. Just look at that gorgeous inspiration pic! Our challenge recipe this week is a yummy combo of:

                                            * COLOURS FROM THE PHOTO
                                            * A 'RUSTIC' ELEMENT ( i.e.WOOD or BURLAP)
                                            * AN ELEGANT ELEMENT

The possibilities are endless... Such an inspiring photo, paired with beautiful Papers from Janet (Shabby Chic Paper) Our winner this week will win a $50 prize pack from Frost It Pink and our Terrific top Three will win 3(1st place) 2(second place) or 1(third place) collages from Janet's Digital Paper Shop(etsy)

I used some Tim Holtz goodies here: woodgrain embossing folder and chandelier stamp.I ran my white ink over the raised bits of the embossing to give it a vintage vibe.. Some glitzy gems (part of my elegant element) and a wooden button for my 'rustic' element.

Janet's papers pair perfectly with my embossed background.. and I got to use my new Paper Sweeties stamp from the "So Sweet of You" set!

beautiful romance...TSTR #135

Hello brand new week. Hello new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room! This week Starr is our host and she asks that we create a card/project using:
                                         *COLOURS: PINK GREEN WHITE
                                         * LACE
                                         *ROSE

This week we got to work with My Time Made Easy "I Support You" template, and "Be Supportive Digital stamps.  If you play along with us this week you could win one template, digi images and digi paper from our fabby sponsor MTME!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love Lauren's templates! This one was no exception and came together so easily! I used some vellum in between my decorative layer and "Cancer Cannot" digi paper. The sentiment was from Lauren's "Be supportive" digi stamps. So many great ones to choose from. What I love about this template is you could make it in any colour for which ever cause you support. We all went with a pink for Breast Cancer awareness month!

Join me in checking out the rest of the Shabby Girls blogs to see what they created this week:

summer surrender...

A couple weeks ago we did a road trip out west to see my family..  squeezing out another week or so of summer, as the weather was already turning in the North. Desperate not to surrender my summer days just yet. Travelling through the mountains is one of my most favourite drives. It's natural beauty is awe inspiring. The mountains humble you with their size. The mountains signal that I'm almost home..how I miss being surrounded by them.

Driving at night with only my thoughts and quiet music keeping me company while my guy slept. The stars shining so brightly in the inky blackness of the sky.. the mountain tops a faint outline against the starry background.The big dipper so low I could have reached out and grabbed it. It was a magical feeling. So peaceful. Most definitely a soul refreshing journey.

Now we are fully immersed into one of my most favourite seasons; fall. Today was the quintessential perfect fall day; beautiful sunshine, warm temps, gorgeous yellows, orange and red leaves.. crunchy under our feet as I walked the puppy.. Fall means Halloween movies and fat orange pumpkins. I love all things Halloween inspired.

As I fondly bid goodbye to Summer, I welcome Fall with open arms. My projects of late have been inspired by the season and Halloween. I recently acquired Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Halloween images, and all of my projects use digi papers, embellies from this amazing CD.

SOOO many great papers to play with.. these are just a few! I made up a little pocket for my Mr Owl tag.. Gosh how I love that 'Broom parking 5c" sign.. If you can get your hands on the Crafty Secrets CD I highly recommend you do!

I'm off to do some more creating! Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my fellow Canadians!
